In January, instead of a New Year's resolution, I set a goal to feature 1-2 artists a month on my Instagram account. This was in an effort to get to know, promote and grow the artist community I love so much. This community that at its best, creates some of the most inspired work I have ever laid eyes on. Our wish is to feature artists in all creative capacities and at any stage in their careers. We buy their art to support them and share that art with you in hopes that you'll love them and want to support them too, like you support Pinales Illustrated. We are so thankful to each and everyone of you who do. ---------------- This post will be updated monthly as the new Artist of the Month (AOM) is announced. ---------------------- OCTOBER, TamrisI don't know about you but it feels like the month of October was a dream because it went by so quickly. However, we love new months because we are able to share new artists with you. A couple weeks ago we stopped by a pop up event where different brands and designers shared their work. We received styling tips and made new friends and among them was the great sister-friend-designer duo of TAMRIS. They created this beautiful wrap dress worn here by Marisol. We both fell in love with the bold color block design on this dress and had to purchase it at the pop up shop. TAMRIS uses hand-picked exotic fabrics which enhances their mission to promote alternative fashion and we could not be more proud to support them. Their styles are perfect for adding pops of color & unique patterns to your wardrobe for fall! You can shop at www.tamris.com or by browsing their Instagram feed @tamris_. Hope you enjoy these images of Marisol in the dress we purchased and some from the pop up event. Click read more below for previous features. SEPTEMBER, DuendeDecorFor the month of September, we featured clothing and accessories designer Tiffany Sabo, owner of DuendeDecor. This feature is a little different than what you're used to. Tiffany and I collaborated to create something tangible which you can see below. This is one of my favorite collaborations to date and perfect to welcome Fall. We joined our creative forces to create “how to” cards for all fall and blanket scarf lovers. I designed three pretty girls showing one of the many ways you can wear a blanket scarf (a gorgeous black & red plaid scarf Tiffany sells in her shop) and she designed the cards which will be included in her scarf orders on Etsy this fall. You can shop all the different scarves she creates plus other accessories by going to www.duendedecor.etsy.com! If you get an illustrated card in your order, drop by and say hi and let us know what you think! Follow her on Instagram for more. These are the pretty girls I illustrated:This is the card Tiffany designed with my girls:--------- there was no Artist feature in the month of August ------------------ ------------ there was no Artist feature in the month of July ------------------ JUNE, Arely's AccessoriesIn June we featured a jewelry designer and maker, Arely, owner of Arely's Store. She designs bracelets, necklaces and earrings for girls and women. The beauty of her art is that she makes these pieces so that one may wear them and add to the beauty we already possess, holding true to the fact that nothing can make you beautiful. Necklaces have always been one of our favorite ways to accessorize and I absolutely love the details in her necklaces and love how they grace your neck and sit so pretty. Here are a couple we purchased from her that we loved the moment we saw them on her feed. You can browse her stunning collections by going to www.arelysaccessories.net or by following her Instagram account @arelys_store. --------- there was no Artist feature in the month of May ------------------ APRIL, Veni IllustratesApril was really a celebration of one of my long time loves, Venita Salian. If I recall correctly, from the very beginning of my social media presence (as an artist), Veni and I have followed each other and shared likes and conversations back and forth. We have encouraged each other and liked one another's art and on March 19th she opened her Etsy shop. (!!!!!!!!) I was beyond excited for this. Veni's style is so captivating and unique, which you can see by browsing her Instagram feed. Give her a follow for great fashion illustrations and endless inspiration! I love the girl in the images (below), she currently hangs next to my desk. The romantic vibe this particular girl emanates is so strong to me and every time I see it it makes me smile. It is part of a theme I'm working on for the look of the little corner I currently work out of in my home, otherwise known as my studio. Our dreams and hopes are to one day own a bigger space and fill one wall with all of the art we've collected from our Artist of the Month series. Stay tuned to see that dream come true! :) We love building a community of artists who, like us, try everyday to be better, who put themselves in a position to succeed against all odds. I hope reading this encourages you to pursue your dreams. MARCH, Alli K DesignIn March we loved on Alli Koch of Alli K Design. She is one of my favorite creatives and is the founder of her own design company ( hi lady boss reading this, follow her Instagram account for encouragement + inspiration ) If you take a look at her feed & follow her journey, you’ll instantly fall in love with lettering, flowers and all things black. ( if you aren’t already a fan of the color black, now you have no excuse ) She is also an author! We are absolutely in love with her book “How to Draw Modern Florals”. It is featured here in these images along with my practice and process results to learn her style of drawing pretty flowers. I used different mediums while practicing flower illustrations and I loved pastels the most. I loved learning how to draw wreaths, sunflowers and arrangements along with other flowers. FEBRUARY, Franzie's Flower DesignWe are currently obsessed with the most talented floral artist in Houston. Francesca (Franzie) from Franzie's Flower Design is an international florist and is amazing at putting together all sorts of flower arrangements. From weddings to various hotel lobbies and holiday decor, I've lived vicariously through her social media channels watching her live out her dreams. The way she runs her business has encouraged me tremendously in my own ventures as an artist. Watching pictures and videos from the flower bars she put together for a Fairmont Hotel in Dallas compelled me to stalk her Instagram account until I saw news of a flower bar here in Houston. My dream came true yesterday for Valentine's Day as Franzie had a pop-up shop where I was able to pick up my own curated bouquet and a sweet peony candle. Check out some of the pictures from her pop-up and my bouquet below. You can also follow her on Instagram here. JANUARY, Jane Kennedy IllustrationThis month was all about Jane Kennedy of Jane Kennedy Illustration. I have been obsessed with her work since I first saw her illustrations for Victoria's Secret. She designed this gorgeous calendar that I fell in love with the first time I saw it in December 2017. In it she features animals under threat of endangerment in designer outfits. Each month includes an action we can take to help these bêtes (French for animals or beasts) who deserve our unconditional love and care. Her calendars are currently 30% off if you'd like to get one for yourself.
